Wow, congrats on getting your narcissist parent into therapy, though!

Usually, they insist that they’re perfect already and don’t need therapy.

No shit, we went into relationship counseling with a therapist she knew. When it came to be that that therapist suggested that she, as the adult, basically had the responsibility, instead of parroting her pinning the blame on me, suddenly the blame shifted to the therapist.

Yup those are both mental health conditions and treatment is available. You can live a good, normal life with the right management techniques and work

Sadly narcissistic and sociopathic issues don’t always get treated as people see them as character flaws instead of illnesses. Also hard for those affected to get help.

It’s there though! Glad they’re recieving it

Or worse, people see these traits as good reasons to be President of the United States.

The fact that the process of becoming president sends like it is purposely designed to weed out non-narcissists is sad. We luck out every now and again, but it attracts some of the worst, as we have seen.

Yes, but good look getting someone with either of those issues, let alone BOTH, to receive therapy or even take it seriously if they do. Last time I suggested it to my mother, she told me I was dead to her and we haven’t spoken since. This was in roughly 2016 or so and my life has only improved since

Not of the own volition, and in a vacuum you’re absolutely correct. But as someone who has had the pleasure of a family riddled with mental health issues; I can say, as some what of an authority, annyone with any issues can&will go to therapy with the right mixture of motivation and pressures.

Reddit mentions a pretty famous story of a neurophysiologist (or someone like that) with his own family, who figured out he was psychopathic while doing research on brain differences in psychopathic people. He concluded that his upbringing stopped him from being aggressive and violent, like psychopaths often tend to be.

I’ve briefly dated two people with sociopathic narcissistic tendencies, and both of them were in therapy.

From what I could tell though, it didn’t seem like the work either of them were doing in therapy was focused on either their sociopathic or narcissistic tendencies.

Sooo, I’m extra impressed by this mom’s apparent willingness to actually try to do the work, lol

The narcissists I’ve known have openly admitted they were such, and talked at times like they are working on improving themselves, but they were either lying or couldn’t help themselves. They are the worst, run, while you can. The last thing you want is to knock up a narcissist and be forever in her/or his, orbit.

You don’t have to worry about cheese staying fresh, it is one of the least susceptible foods to bacterial contamination. It takes a very long time for mold to form, even in a 140 degree car every day for a week. You might lose some of that delicious cheese sweat in the heat though.

This is why you grate your own. As a lazy bastard, it’s one step of effort I can’t give up since I tried it the first time. Getting a real Parmigiano without all that added starch is a game changer.

Smell. By the time you have enough mold to look like starch, it’s already got that funk.

But the stank is way down in the cheese where the mold is and not in the top of the bag, so if it’s only on the edge of getting moldy you kind of have to get a really good noseful of bag air to detect that signature moldy smell.
