I had no idea. I just combined it with Lost Mine of Phandelver, since they both take place in the same area, worked relatively well, though I didn’t realize it could’ve been continued with other modules.

I have encountered this issue before when I tried using Obsidian my RPG pdf collection (10,000s of files), would not recommend. I do still like Obsidian and will keep using it, but would something like Trillium work as a sort of PDF library software for a massive amount of files like that? The main need is to be able sort/categorize game systems using tags, link to pdfs, and maybe have some sort of Dataview-esque query capabilities. Zotero is the least worst option, but it still has some annoyances for me and I’ve still been looking for something that could help me organize better. I know this is billed as a note-taking app, so it’s a weird use-case, but Obsidian was pretty close to being a decent solution, if not for the slow speed issues.
You could say that about literally any library of books, not just RPG books. Even if I myself may not read the books regularly, I still read them at some point, OR potentially I’m like a torchbearer, I’m just taking care of all these books for the day when somebody else discovers them and is able to read them. I may be dead and gone by then, but I’m doing my part to keep the books and the hobby alive.
I wonder if the AI is using bad code pulled from threads where people are asking questions about why their code isn’t working, but ChatGPT can’t tell the difference and just assumes all code is good code.
I actually ran Lost Mine of Phandelver and Dragon of Icespire Peak together and just merged them. I’m convinced that they started off as part of a single campaign that WotC just decided to split between two mini starter sets (Starter set & Essentials kit). Either one on their own just seems kind of barebones (though useful for an intro adventure), together though it worked well for me.
Had not realized there was an issue around the rights of the thing, was there some sort of falling out with Greenbrier Games? There’s a post on the BGG page from the designer announcing it, but that was 4 years ago and at the time he said he was about 60% done with Grimslingers 2. Most recent post from him was June 2022 saying he’s still working on it, but no ETA.
Looks like AI art, but it’s actually from a game called Grimslingers, a sort of fantasy/wild west-themed tabletop rpg card game.
It’s for organizing… homework.
I’ve been looking for something for my RPG pdf collection and haven’t really found anything that scratches every need I have for it yet. I’ve gone through most of what’s out there and didn’t really see many great options. I mostly want to organize/categorize my collection of ttrpg e-books (reading I can do through dropbox as I don’t really jump from one item to another often enough to justify syncing my entire 100k+ collection), so I just settled on Zotero. It’s mainly meant for journals and scholarly works, but it seems like it fits part of my use-case and it’s tagging features are decent enough. Syncing PDFs is an option, but I’d have to get into the paid tier to have my whole collection accounted for.
Jellyfin I guess does have support for ebooks through a plug-in, but it isn’t terribly great IMO and you’ll still need something else like Tailscale I believe to actually be able to view stuff outside of your home wifi network. There’s some other options out there I believe, though they all seemed to be geared towards Manga collections, so if you’re looking to organize through this system, those may not work as well either (and you still may need Tailscale regardless).
Yeah, systems will be tags as well, since there’s some games that have had multiple versions put out in different universal systems or across editions. I’ve also been leaning on RPGGeek for getting individual RPG mechanics for another set of tags (dice pool, cards, attribute-based, class-based, etc). It’s going to be quite a bit of work to actually go through everything, but til now I’ve just been using alphabetical folders and that’s just been tedious and feels too limiting. It’s been interesting researching some of the different RPG lines that I don’t get as much exposure to and seeing some of the history of RPG games in general and how the hobby has developed over time.
What is the limit of Water to other ingredients in an open container? And what’s the limit on the “container”? If a person/living thing is sitting in an open container, could you dehydrate them by destroying the water in their body? If that’s too far, what’s the limit? Suppose it’s a mix of 50% salt and 50% water, still good? What if it’s water with dirt in it? What if it’s really muddy water? Can you destroy/hurt a water elemental with it (supposing it were in an open container)?
Unless I’m seeing it wrong, it appears to only work on macOS? It looks nice and I use a mac for work, but all my personal stuff is on a PC. That’s one other stipulation I probably should’ve mentioned.
I actually did try doing it through Obsidian for awhile, but the add-ons I tried using with it somehow made it slow to a crawl (literally +10 minutes on start-up) and I couldn’t get it to work well.
I’m probably the biggest simpleton in this thread, but I was just looking at this earlier and TiddlyWiki still seems like the easiest of the easiest. It’s literally just an html file that requires pretty minimal setup to get going. Nothing else seems to even come close. I’ve been using it for a couple of years as a sort of internal departmental job aid, just basic information for our group and it’s pretty straight-forward.
Some of the GM’s we play with telegraph everything and will ask this and basically give away that we’re on the wrong track or not doing what they were planning for. Even when you say, “Yeah, sure, I’m going to do it,” they’ll basically spoil their own game trying to dissuade us from doing something. It just always feels like a lack of imagination, just let people do stupid shit and deal with the consequences.
Jesus fuck. I have been looking for something like Kavita for so long now, specifically because of the issues you outlined with Calibre wanting to duplicate my library. I have thousands to tens of thousands of PDFs I’ve needed to get organized for so long and duplicating it all is not feasible (plus Calibre’s interface just looks 20 years out of date). I just got Kavita loaded and scanning my library and my initial impression is that this will do everything I’ve been wanting for so long. Thanks for the tip!
We’re still maintaining our weekly gaming session that we’ve been keeping to since Covid first started, it’s like 3 or 4 years now. Our group finished up one GM’s campaign, who then launched into another campaign a bit after that. I ran a one-shot of Mothership merged with the Nemesis boardgame and ended with everyone dying except one character, so that was a success. We played some Savage Worlds Rifts and Dungeon Crawl Classics.
I was running a D&D campaign for my son before and the two most liked NPCs were two goblins. One was a snivveling little companion who was actually a decent, though stupid goblin. The other goblin was a conniving, manipulative little shit that would backstab the group at any opportunity, yet they couldn’t ever bring themselves to kill him. Voiced them pretty differently with almost opposite personalities. It’s so great having characters that get that kind of reaction.
I would assume that it only affected those things that immediately led to the character’s death in the first place, but what’s the cut-off point (so to speak)? If I lost a finger earlier in the same battle, does that regrow, even though the finger by itself isn’t what led to my death? What if earlier in the day I lost a toe? And then also, what if you cut somebody down the middle and cast it on both halves (say at the same time)?
Depends, are you anywhere near Lebanon? If so, you may want to put your phone in airplane mode.
