I actually ran Lost Mine of Phandelver and Dragon of Icespire Peak together and just merged them. I’m convinced that they started off as part of a single campaign that WotC just decided to split between two mini starter sets (Starter set & Essentials kit). Either one on their own just seems kind of barebones (though useful for an intro adventure), together though it worked well for me.
