Was the plugin open source?
Edit: looks like it wasn’t and the incident has prompted more more transparency. Good stuff.

Does XMPP support voice/video calls?
Hey, I came across this site today which sells FOSS merch (including stickers) and thought of you:
I am totally cool with F-droid.
The usual stuff I guess; keeping minimal or no customer data, located in a country which isn’t participating in international surveillance agreements (Five Eyes et al), no wishywashy privacy policies etc.
Would peer to peer apps be resistant to this sort of thing?
I want stickers too but have struggled to find the ones I want (FOSS software and privacy/digital rights organisations). I do have access to low-cost sticker printing though. I thought a nice setup would be to start an online shop selling these kinds of stickers and use to proceeds to cover the cost of printing + running the shop and to send money to the developers of the applications/organisations.
I haven’t been able to find a dedicated shop for this. Wanna start one?
Amazing, I didn’t know that about Ted talks!
This is very good info.
When she’s big enough I plan to set my daughter up with Wikipedia on an offline laptop like this.
When I was little my Grandpa gave me a full set of the Encyclopaedia Brittanica and I used to love it.
AFAIK you can do all of the same things in your browser but I find it simpler, neater and faster to have all my Wikipedia tabs and bookmarks in their own application. It’s themed for GNOME too and is easy on the eye which is pleasant.
Their website does make security look like a big priority. I wonder about the security of my YUNOhost server but am not really sure how to evaluate it.
That’s cool. I think I’ve been using it for nearly two years. I had no prior experience with servers and got a bit confused at times in the beginning but these days I hardly need to touch it. How come you’re thinking of switching to Cosmos just out of interest?
Apparently there has been an uptick in people using cash in the UK because it helps with budgeting. Which has become more necessary since 60% of inflation started coming from corporate profiteering and four people became able to outcompete twenty million others in the market.
Calibre is fantastic software.
I think it’s really sad how people lose the plot and go and go on murderous rampages against ethnic/sexual/random/political minorities when insurers are sitting right there the whole time.
I would try YUNOhost
Man, thank you for looking into this.
I don’t even use Immich but it’s a relief to know that people like you are actively monitoring these kinds of applications. I have a VPS running a few things and there is no way I would be happy with an application on it behaving this way without my consent.
Google Pixel phones are, ironically, the best supported by de-googling projects like CalyxOS, GrapheneOS and /e/os. They are quite cheap to buy too (especially second hand).
By the way; which messaging platforms, protocols or ‘services’ are currently supported by Pidgin? I haven’t looked at it in a while.
