I was going to say this is pretty normal in the Appalachians. Long stretch of highway though forested hills with a single tall ass sign poking through the canopy from a distance marking restaurants/gas stations at the next exit.

I know this is horrible but imagine seeing this after 8 hours of hiking. I don’t even like McDonald’s, but they could charge triple and I’d still buy a shitty burger and a diet coke.

At one point in history as I sat and watched the crowds circulating through the top of the Pinnacle on the Blue Mountain ridge in Pennsylvania, I considered just loading my pack with Cliff bars and Gatorade, donning a pair of cheap cat ears, and parking my butt just before the overlook for an entire afternoon.
