Over 500 of the world’s leading cryptographers, security researchers, and scientists from 34 countries have today delivered a devastating verdict on the EU’s proposed “Chat Control” regulation. An open letter published this morning declares the plan to mass-scan private messages is “technically infeasible,” a “danger to democracy,” and will “completely undermine” the security and privacy of all European citizens.

There is also this from the EDRi - “Sign the petition of the Stop Scanning Me campaign and join thousands of people opposing the attack on our secure communication. As soon as our petition reaches a critical threshold, we will deliver it to decision lawmakers as we did in the past.”

The EU Commission can get fucked, how often will they try to pull this shit?

If Hungary is for it, you can be sure that russia is for it, which is a guarantee that there is no safe version of chat control.

Jesus Christ, this is still a terrible idea. I’m not from the EU, how many countries have to vote against it to stop it? Is it still feasible?

it would even be enough for germany to abstain from voting. I don’t understand that either btw, but i don’t understand any nation which says yes to this bullshit, because the european court of justice has spoken very clear words when they judged that this crap is against human rights.
