Them being portable makes them actually useful though for me, unless there was a way to use them from a phone to login to a website on a desktop/other device.
Being able to login into a password manager and use a passkey is great, passkeys need to become mainstream to get everyone away from passwords, but they can’t be locked locally onto one platform or you have issues. The regular joe won’t be backing them up from their iPhones or whatever.
I don’t see why a local option wouldn’t exist though, perhaps they will come once passkeys have matured further.
But Amazon will just replace them for free without any trouble, which is why I tend to go to Amazon for sensitive hardware, for the peace of mind.
The last time I purchased something from another electronics store, it was faulty and they tried their absolute hardest to refuse to take it back and then still wanted me to pay for a courier to return it - congratulations, you lost a customer.
Jorji?
Wouldn’t be too bad if they just host threads and abide by ActivityPub without getting hands on, but they clearly want to shape it how they want.
I knew intel have been doing horribly recently, but they are only $83.3B market cap, I had no idea they shit the bed this much.
What how? Intel is still huge compared to Qualcomm no?
I’m not a developer. Just explaining why projects keep within their scope and don’t bloat their software with features, which in turn take more effort to maintain.
They have their scope. It’s a video transcoder. Programs are better suited to doing their job well rather than stretching themselves thin with loads of features.
Guys, stop falling for the obvious bait in the comments.

Likes and the like should be public, then there’s no tampering and people who like the insane shit can’t hide that fact. Dunno why people are still using that platform regardless.
Not that big of a deal to me personally, the app is still brilliant and open to the community. But given the community this is posted in I understand the concern and alternatives like Organic Maps are great for that.
I see, that’s very useful for lower end devices then. If I ever need voice, I’ll stick to OSMAnd then for now.
I like OSMAnd’s visuals, very simple and configurable. OM seems to just be material design. Subjective of course!
What are some reasons as to why I would want to use this over, say, OSMAnd?
Ah yes the 3.5mm port, known for its bulk. Perhaps we should remove cameras as they have actually bulked out phones in recent years.
It’s a very small amount of space. When it was first removed the space was still there just empty. There’s phones that do exist that have SD card slots and headphone jacks. The hardware required is very very cheap, especially at scale, so cost is a non-factor. For such minimal resources, who wouldn’t want the option of more features? There’s plenty of features of smartphones that most people don’t use, it doesn’t mean we should remove them to the detriment of the people who do.
Yes… they sell an adapter.
Obsidian but with syncthing here, just syncs the files across my devices.
