We just recently switched from npm to pnpm, due to all the supply chain attacks. I did the PR for it, even.
Our release schedule is like a year though so we don’t really have to worry much about releasing compromised dependencies. But still, better to be on the safer side.
Sure, I feel that. Are you running the version before they changed the license or whatever was the thing back then?
I’m lucky in my situation I guess, that I only need local playback and direct play.
I went with Plex for probably ten years after breaking with Emby. I ended things with them because they don’t care about their customers at all. Bugs that break the experience completely that lie untouched/unnoticed/ignored for years, and no replies from the developers. Or even developers that just stop replying to these bugs.
Switched to Jellyfin this year and it works like a charm. Only thing is it isn’t as good at noticing duplicates in my library, but other than that, works just fine. Definitely above acceptable.
Surprised people still stick with Emby.

Great point.

Ooh, nice. Thanks for that link.
Yeah, Tuta has only permanent aliases, so once you’ve created one of your 15 aliases or whatever, that’s a permanent reduction of available aliases. And Tuta has no email masks, like others have.
And the searching is quite annoying, because they have zero knowledge of your data, so the searching needs to happen locally on the client. A consequence of the full encryption.
Personally, I’m okay with less encryption in order to make the searching a more smooth experience. But they will never change that.
Yeah that’s way expensive for the same amount of storage as Tuta at half the price.
Quite expensive, but the price per GB is better. On the other hand, I also don’t need that much space.

Good luck with your eventual transition to Linux! Check in with Lemmy communities if you want help with anything!

Yo how did this happen
Fully within your right. First impressions matter.
Alright, bro. I didn’t pick my own name.
Read what you will into whatever, it’s just my personal opinion.
Consistency doesn’t cancel our the immaturity for me, sadly.
What do you mean it checks out? That’s just as immature of a project name.
I can’t take this project name seriously. Like it’s made by weebly pimply teenagers or tweens.

Dude you’ve made more in 6–8 months than I had the ambition to accomplish for over a decade now, and I haven’t even started. (Two kids, there’s just no time or energy.)
You’re doing great!

I’m with you on this one. Can’t knock every single product owned by a company assuming all CEOs are Nazis…
But a big red flag is when a company sells itself to a billionaire, or goes public on the stock market. That’s when we should start to worry.
And what does that do?
