I always said “in GIN icks” (gin like the alcohol) based on someone else’s pronunciation years ago. I never realized it was meant to have anything to do with “engine” as a result.

Yeah, I’m generally overseas and many things need a US number for 2fa. It’s the only thing that I still need it for. Translate as well for Japanese.
I mean, I left but I still have to file taxes, can’t use any retirement plans in my current country (yay, PFICs), and otherwise get fucked by the government for daring to want to invest in my retirement. This is mostly why I still also vote.
If someone really wanted to find the person, I imagine they’d find where the signal is coming from for that device, and just narrow from there. If it always goes to/from where John works and lives, it might well be John’s phone.
In Japan, a lot of things don’t take calls from VoiP (+81-050-xxxx-xxxx) numbers. Certain businesses and such won’t accept them as contact info, either, as I discovered trying to rent my first apartment by myself.

Now that’s an explanation I can get behind. Also, I now want fajitas.
I’ve seen such things (though not Apple presentations) and don’t recall ever hearing the term sizzle reel.
When and in which context would I have heard this?
I’ve been in IT for a couple decades at this point. I stopped doing almost any swlf-hosted stuff years ago as I just don’t have the time or energy to deal with things. There’s a lot to keep up on with technologies, security, etc. not to mention all the constants of keeping things up-to-date, back-ups, troubleshooting issues, and more
The fuck is a “sizzle reel”. I mean, I get what it probably is from context, but who comes up with this shit
First time I’ve seen something like that, but my initial thought was: wow, that’s a lot of parts that can break and things that can go wrong (compared to only encrypting the data itself before storage).
I’m still stuck with Google voice for now
