Hot dogs have gone up in price so much I’ll stick to just mac and cheese.

The newer raspberry pis have gone up in price so much that the limited port selection is off putting to me now. You could pick up an older thinkcentre and do so much more.

Manually make a backup with the date in the file name stored in another folder and on a thumb drive.

All my systems backup to a remote box that has a hotswap bay that I rotate the drive every few weeks between another drive. The drive out of the hotswap bay is stored in a fire safe.

This is more all for images and documents, but everything gets the same backup since it’s whole systems. The backups are rsync with hard links so they take up less room.

If I setup my own private instance and don’t make myself verify my age… can they still stop me from following others or other instances following me in some way?

Is freshrss the best alternative at this point?

Docker pull lacks a lot of the automation apt has if your using multiple images, and needing to restart them.

I’m an old man set in my ways… i see the benefit of docker and having set images, but also see so much waste having multi installs of the same thing for different docker images.

I have finally had to switch to using docker for several things I use to just install manually (ttrss being the main one). It sure feels dirty when i use to just apt update and know everything was updated.

I can see the draw for docker but feel it’s way over used right now.

I have used flat txt files and also ntoodotxt for other stuff. Sync them all with syncthing.
