I use Casa for actual mobile management - installing new apps, looking at logs, reconfiguring things on the go, etc. It’s pretty rare I sit down and use my computer. Sounds like portainer isn’t quite what I need.

I can’t imagine running terminal commands off my phone! Sounds frustrating. I can barely type on my phone without autocomplete lol, let alone with arcane symbols. Hacker keyboard only helps somewhat. I occasionally ssh into my server from my phone, but it’s a last resort.

Specifically, system-level configs includes storage mounts (I have my NAS mounted onto my app server for storage and that was hell to get working) and non-Casa docker containers (I have a couple).

Casa hits a great niche for me - I do most of my management on-the-go from my phone. It hits the perfect balance of convenience.

I’m hosting most of my homelab off one m910q I got off eBay, with a 128gb M.2 SSD I bought separately. $55usd total. It handles around 15 services (including DNS and *Arrs) pretty well. Using a separate NAS for the actual storage and Plex streaming.

Oh hey, you’re totally right, that’s crazy. I use Beeper (hosted matrix setup) to aggregate my chats and I guess I’ve always been using that to search across all servers without realizing. Fully thought the DM search would also search across servers.

DMs are definitely also another case though - you can’t easily DM people on another server if that requires you to log into another server.

That’s still not a solution. That entails non unified communication, access, and search. Making it easy to log in to others still doesn’t solve easy sharing between others. Also oauth2 is a pain to set up, and many people hosting their own instance aren’t going to bother.

It’s their own client, not just reskinned, and it has a bunch of new features designed to make cross-service nice and simple. Also, the bridges ARE open-source, but the beeper company wrote a few of them and decided to open source them.

Lol chill, I use Firefox. I can still call out good things in other browsers even if I don’t like the browser as a whole for other reasons. None of what I said there was in support of chromium.

Brave can make micro payments to content creators based on the number of views to the site, directly supporting content creators without ads or the need to join the patreon for each creator. It’s a fully optional system, off by default but prompted upon opening the browser for the first time. It’s a cool idea but they kind of spoiled it by making it be a crypto wallet with ads to earn the crypto.

Do you mean admonitions? E.g. info, warning, etc? There’s precedent for that in commonly-used open source implementations, e.g. obsidian.md (which uses the same syntax, and started before). What semantics does it break? It’s designed to read well in plaintext and render nicely even if used in a renderer that doesn’t support admonitions, e.g.

As opposed to other common markdownish implementations that use nonsensical plaintext which renders poorly in alternative renderers. Here’s a discussion on the topic in the CommonMark forums.
