I have a Matrix #the-ozoned:matrix.org . While I don’t know a lot, I have quite a few number of folks that do. Or we can all learn and figure things out! I’m often here or on @ozoned@btfree.social as well as my Peertube, TubeFree.org, powered by my nonprofit BTfree.org.

Just say what you need and we can find someone that can make it happen. :-)

Honestly, I look at this and I see a future where everyone runs their own Federated services. I can verify my child’s age as well as mine and I’m the best one to decide what they can and can’t see. So I only need to worry about me and my family.

Or a local community can run it for themselves.

A forced move away from social media, because they can’t afford the risk, to one where we all run our own stuff and can follow who we want.

This is only 1 possible outcome of course, and it’s wildly idealist, but it’s a future I’m going to push for no matter what. So I’m very biased, so don’t take my opinion into account. :D

Yes, I’d say that the beauty of the Fedi is we can all find our own communities that share our values and morals. Hopefully we can have openness, but I’m aware some don’t want that and that’s ok. :) There are plenty of others out there.

I just want to understand the rules so I’m a good steward. If there’s a better community I’d like to hear it. Nothing on the rules on the right bar saying it wasn’t allowed. I see someone else posted it to another privacy community. Which is good. I’m not here for fake internet points, just trying to understand. It might be as simple as that though. IDK. :)

And started a nonprofit that I’m still working on getting 501© 3 status in the US called BT Free, and currently running a moderated instance TubeFree.org. open for sign ups, but if you want to post video I need to see it first as again, heavily moderated. Eventually I plan on having storage costs for tax deductible donations, but idk when that’ll be. And hopefully in the future can do revenue sharing or have a way to post creators.

I know Ben Pate, whom I talked with on fireside fedi and is creating emissary and bandwagon, is working on pay systems. As well as other folks.

Friendica is what they want. I agree. And you can get all of your content inside Friendica and never leave. Follow mastodon folks, pixelfed folks, lemmy communities, peertube channels, etc.

That’s because it is another bubble. They’re all bubbles IMO. Since the boom of the internet they’ve all been scrambling from one fools gold rush to the next. Crypto, nft, metaverse, AI. Heel even social media that was given freely isn’t returning the expected investments and that’s why they’re all enshitiffying.

I’m more just trying to get a very quick site set up. I made a super basic page ATM. I’ll revisit it later to try to make something much nicer or hire someone. Multiple folks have mentioned drupal so I’ll have to give it more of a look. Thank you for the feedback. :-)

I’d say leave it. I don’t know about at Facebook, but lots of companies still have that data in their database. They just remove publicly facing versions or index to it. And even if they do remove it they’d have backups and wont go through every backup ever to remove your info. So you’ll always be in there. And even if for some reason they close, they’ll sell all that data to someone else. We have digital ghosts floating everywhere. Don’t give them anymore pieces of you. Just walk away and never look back IMO.

I don’t know anything about Drupal. I shall look at it. Right now to get up and running I’m thinking of just running a SSG like Pelican. Especially since the Dev is on the Fediverse. :-D
