Agreed. Im seeign a lot of new faces in peertube land. Its been a pretty good time.

I kinda want to do a “best of peertube 2025” and get a couple of 10 second clips together just for fun. Just like a “best of” with some collabs if possible.

Yeah the p2p nature of it means it scales really well if anything goes viral. Not to say throwing a video on some video tags in HTML isn’t a bad idea.

I once made a good roll and my character threw a goat at a kobold. Halflings +1 to throwing.

My DM started to calculate the damage, gave up and just said the kobold died. Then we figured out goats had more hp than kobolds and had a goat in the party…til the end of the campaign lol. It’s was out goat of holding.

A repurposed old PC with something like yunohost, generic Debian, or some lightweight Linux will probably get you what you need.

It heavily depends on what programs you want to run.

I’ve done it twice. Easiest is using yunohost, second is using their docker container. Both require a bit of a sysafmin background for anything with more than 10 users, at least right now.

The times I did it, I went through their official documentation and their Docker files.

Use it everyday. I self host a number of fedi services. It’s a great os.

Most of the apps are great, but there are a couple that are no longer maintained.

Yep and you can dictate the sync time. It’s great.

Ive been using it for a couple years now. Its solid. Super easy to host via docker or yunohost. It can mass import/export as well.

There’s automation and you can do it manually if needed. For example I have a couple of emulators that pull every 24 hours from GitHub just in case nint tendo gets a little lawsuit heavy. I also have one offs from GitHub that pull down when I want.

You can also mirror a public repo from GitHub into a private repo so it does not gets indexed/ai trained.
