That sounds like a great solution to my current frustration that the autobackup feature of Immich on iOS is so opaque. It only works when the app is open and even then oftentimes you’re just staring at the backup screen while seemingly nothing is happening, despite Immich’s backlog of thousands of photos still needing to be uploaded.

This first episode is just 45 minutes long, so not as long as a Critical Role or even a Dimension 20 episode. And it’s pretty accessible even to non-players.

Apparently I have a database issue. It tries two photos and both fail with a foreign key error and then the process stops. I had deleted both photos it initially complained about, but then it complained about the next two. I fear I’m going to have to reinstall.

Went into the app’s logs (tap your icon in the upper right corner and choose Logs)

I think I’m going to reinstall. This issue is over my paygrade.

Ever since the upgrade to 2.0 I’ve been unable to sync the photos on my phone. “Sync failed, cannot process backup” and I don’t know why.

Lets see if this rusty armor floats then.

Linux based phones have been in development for more than a decade now. I had a Neo Freerunner from OpenMoko in 2008… it kinda worked, but it was not good enough for a daily driver.

What we have now is much better, but there’s still some ways to go before I’m able to ditch my non-linuxy smartphone.

And exactly how do you know that none of your players need safety tools?

Nobody is asking you to carry a spare tire while hiking, but you do admit that bringing one extra bottle of water is a good idea while hiking, right?

Even at tables that use safety tools, they’re still optional. You can still speak up, but it’s there for people who find that difficult.

I really don’t understand the animosity against tools that help improve the enjoyment for all players involved.

If you, as a player, don’t want to use them, then don’t.

It’s primarily used for audiobooks. Those need to be stored somewhere.
The podcast feature of Audiobookshelf uses the same structure, so the server downloads the file and the client can then find it and either download it to your local device or stream it from your server.

If you don’t want that, I wouldn’t use Audiobookshelf as an intermediary tool. I’d use Pocket Casts, or antennapod or some such.

Where else am I supposed to store my data? People keep telling me to store my files in the clouds, but when I do it’s always “ah man, it’s cloudy again, I want sunshine!” and “why is it snowing paper?”

There are watches that don’t require a battery. Some require you to rewind by hand, by turning the crown, others are powered by wrist movements.

I’d much rather choose the book I want to listen to by clicking on the book’s cover than look for it on one of my many harddrives
