They learned their lesson from this and Huawei, so now private companies are self censoring on behalf of the govt. That’s why Colbert is losing his job and cutting edge Chinese phones don’t work on American carriers despite being fully compatible.

the epsteins control bitcoin; this is going to bite them in the ass.

the mod’s reasoning is sus at best and makes this community feel like it’s captured by reactionaries.
i’m inclined to believe that the continuous barrage of hate lobbied their way makes them reactionary because they lack the discipline that typifies rightist beliefts; they could accomplish A LOT MORE if they copied pages from the leftist playbooks where public engagement is concerned.
which instances did that?
… bullshit … criminals … smear … garbage … get your shit straight … morons.
more expletives, than sentences; this reads like it was written by micay himself. lol

it’s got an open source base layer; but it’s got enough closed source layers on top of it to make the open source part alone useless for today’s mobile environment.
nevertheless, the things like graphene, lineage, postmarket, etc. are efforts to make that base layer effective and they will soon be your only options if you want to use android without having to provide your gov’t issue ID so that your actions can be tracked for “terrorism”

i bet it’s better to chop them up into fine pieces to feed to the wild animals that have been displaced by their “land development”

it bet it’ll just disintegrate instead of turning into jerky. lol

i bet it’s like chicken, with little to no flavor on it’s own; so you could get away using some basic ass ketchup to do the trick. lol
i got sick of commiserating so i cut off centralized media from my life and my internet experience got reset back to 1995; it’s kind of rediscovering what the internet is like all over again.
the version of privacy expressed here is geared towards well resourced actors like state governments who have inexhaustible armies of experts; which is arguably the highest gold standard when it comes to privacy.
if you understand that you’re hopelessly outmatched by the american or isreali governments no matter what you do, then privacy takes on a more practical meaning. as in, you understand that you’re millions of times more likely to have your privacy violated by actors like advertisers or local police and this where there’s room for debate between graphene and lineage and i get that from de-googleing communities like this one
fully agreed, people just assume it’s dead because a site doesn’t offer a full spread of bread and circuses; now it’s takes minor effort again like it used to back in 1995.
it’s still thriving; you just need to stay away from centralized instances of it.
i’ve learned that if it has everything you want, it’s because profit seeking made sure it of it.
provide politically neutral information
i’ve had to tell chatgpt/copilot several times in the past few weeks to stop doing this and yesterday it got jarring because i asked both it and deepseek the same thing and the results were miles apart from each other.
fyi: this community is dominated by graphene enthusiasts so ymmv here.

but it’s got A LOT caveats compared to normal bios based systems and many manufacturers are locking them down.
you really are me. lol
i also considered the proton suite because it felt like the easiest way to switch and i too have decided that using multiple corporations would be less problematic, so that means tuta for mail; mullvad for vpn; 3rd party for translation; etc.
it means my transition away from google will be MUCH SLOWER than i had planned, but it minimizes the dependency on any corporation that’s directed by a trump ally (which i suspect is all of them).
If you want to DM me, I’d love to talk more in-depth about the struggle of de-googling in this current world
it’s extra hard to find de-googling information without centralized social media; which is a bit ironic on its own if you think about it. so, for the sake of the fools like me who have excised social media from our lives and who have also purchased and become dependent on google-centric devices like an after-market head units to use with android auto and cameras meant to work with google lens, it make sense to share it with the community at large.
i’ve been able to piece together that android auto works with both graphene and lineage (respectively), but i can only confirm that it’s with head units that came pre-installed on newer cars. my car pre-dates smart phones, so i was one of the first adopters of wireless android auto and paid $$ to have it installed. the only source i could find for my exact situation comes in the form of a comment response to a forum post on xda that says that it works on graphene, but wired only, and i can only guess that the situation is the same with lineage.
my current solution for android auto and google lens is to let natural attrition solve both problems for me. my car is american made and almost 20 years old now so i expect it to die soon and the biggest take away from my most recent post on lemmy is that my google lens cameras are now useless without significant investment in additional computer hardware to run them.

as a former cog in this particular machine, it always felt like capturing tiktok to bend it to the zionist will was always the goal given the relatively paltry amount of development resources they gave to the project combined with how clearly the presidential and congressional bans were used pressure bytedance; mostly i remember the phrase “this goes WAY above our heads” repeated by oracle people in the meetings every time the bytedance architects pushed back.
i probably would have been caught in this layoff and it makes me so glad i jumped ship before this and the isreali loyalty decree happened.
i’m so glad i’m on a social media platform that doesn’t try to fight back against this reality.
