  • I will say this that if you think you are immune to propaganda, then you have been propagandized. We are all susceptible.

There is a reason why the phrase “you can fool all of the people some of the time” is included in the phrase “you can include all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time but not all of the people all of the time”.

A very apt example that still riles some people’s feathers is that some people still hate Hillary Clinton.

Not just like a dislike or an aversion, but an actual personal hatred.

This hatred is from propaganda, and pretty much any time it is mentioned somebody will crawl out of the woodworks to explain exactly why they hate Hillary Clinton.

  • Well, there’s nothing wrong with that at all. The only thing I was thinking is that you would then also have the rest of the Proxmox server to do other server things with.

For instance, you could set up an LDAP server and create a centralized login for your home domain And have that separate from your portainer setup so that if you make a mistake you don’t end up having to redo your portainer setup.

You could also use it as a VM host to try out different flavors of Linux and see if any of them make any more sense to you.

Even though it’s not recommended, you could also host Truenas on top of Proxmox.

There are good reasons to use virtual machines separate from another virtual machine.

  • Like the other people said, use Proxmox. Just download the installer, flash it to a flash drive with Rufus and install it and then put it somewhere far away where the noise won’t bother you hopefully plug it into your network and then you can just run it.

One thing that I like to do is to install ubuntu server and then install Docker and Portainer on the server and then you can just run a whole bunch of Docker containers and have a lot of fun playing around with that.

There are a lot of guides for how to do that, but if you set up Proxmox first and then create a VM with, say, four CPUs and four gigs of RAM and 40 gigs of storage space, you’ll have more than enough room in that one virtual machine to run dozens of net services.

Some good ones to install are pihole or ad guard home and nginx reverse proxy.

You can go to DuckDNS and create a subdomain and then set the IP address to your internal ip.

Once you have that up, you can then go to Let’s encrypt and create a wildcard certificate and then give all of the services you’re running on Docker and on your NAS server an internal name with an SSL certificate instead of having to type in the IP addresses.

The sky is the limit and the more things that you play around with and try, the better you’ll get at them and the more things you’ll learn how to do.

  • I tried navidrome but the issue I ran into is that it would not play individual songs or sort through them, it would just play my albums in alphabetical order.

And I don’t know as far as jelly fin goes, I like it as a video platform but for music I couldn’t get it to just randomly display the songs and let me shuffle through them.

I’m looking for a music server that can see all of my songs and music and shuffle them and play them. Does anything like that exist?

  • Cheapest TV you can find that has the specs that you are interested in combined with a $50 pawn shop laptop and an inexpensive wireless keyboard and mouse.

Linux is optional but highly encouraged.

Connect that to a USB dac which is then piped into an amplifier for 2.0 sound.

I could probably rig up a subwoofer for a little extra oomph but none of the amplifiers I found at the thrift store have a way to turn off a powered amp or power an unpowered one.

  • I would gladly go to a doctor and have my issues dealt with if I could.

    I have good insurance.

I have money, although not a lot, but enough to go to the goddamn hospital.

Every time I go to the hospital with a complaint, they basically told me it’s all in my head and send me on my way without running any diagnostic tests, analyzing the specific issues that I’m talking about, or finding out any more information than whether or not I have insurance.

Then when it’s all said and done, I get a bill for $1,000.

This has happened to me the last three times I went to the doctor.

I have nodules in my throat. I have giant lumps under my skin, my urine smells like maple syrup even though my blood sugar is Rock fucking solid. I have issues with losing weight that aren’t directly related to my diet.

I have depression, I have skin issues with fucking eczema that do not respond to any over-the-counter treatment. I have a deviated septum. My xiphoid process is literally broken and free-floating in my chest. My coccyx is the size of a fucking grape.

I have an entire litany of issues and I have told multiple doctors about this in person and asked for help and assistance, and not once has a single doctor ever offered to do so much as draw my fucking blood for a test.

If I do not DIY my own medicine I cannot receive treatment for any of my issues. No matter how many times I have asked for help, my pleas for help have always been ignored and I’ve been charged $1,000 for them on top of insurance three different times.

If you know how to fix this where I can get qualified competent medical assistance with my issues before they snowball together and murder me, please tell me how because I cannot solve this.

  • It’s sort of like how you can create a pretty good text message on your phone using voice to text but no courtroom is allowing AI transcription.

There’s still too much risk that it will capitalize the wrong word or replace a word that’s close to what was said or do something else wholly unconceived of to trust it with our legal process.

If they could guarantee a 100% accurate transcription of spoken word to text it would put the entire field of Court stenographers out of business and generate tens of millions of dollars worth of digital contracts for the company who can figure it out.

Not going to do it because even today a phone can’t tell the difference between the word holy and the word holy. (Wholly)
