I’m fully with ya there. If I was doing anything more than downloading media, I’d be using something like tails with TOR or i2p or whatever. But without having any issues with my ISP chastising me in years (since I began VPNing), I’m happy with what I’ve got.

That’s cuz I get a negative reaction when I mention it hahaha. I use Nord. Got it a few years ago to support Eric from Internet Comment Etiquette, and it just worked for me so I haven’t changed. It used to cap out at maybe 15/20MB per sec, but now I get my full-ass gigabit speeds when downloading stuff. I’ve considered switching but it works great for me and I get max speed, so ehhhh

Original battery, turns out she’s only got about 26 cycles—I thought her to bring to LAN parties with W7 as a dual boot and her video card kicked ass for that! Kept her plugged in all the time. Battery looks perfect, and on full brightness she gets through 1.75 playthroughs of Beetlejuice.

No rattles, always had a cooling mat with fans under her while I was playing games. Fans are all doing great!

2011 MacBook Pro 15” I’m still using, too! Mostly for just web browsing and picture storage. iPhoto is so good.

I did replace the optical drive with an SSD and maxed out the RAM, so that helps. My only complaint is USB2 is hella slow.

Yah a decent work machine with an i5, 256GB SSD, and 8GB RAM is like 300USD on sale in many countries. No way I wouldn’t just do that, the fuel savings and commute time would pay for it immediately.

I can understand it coming from iOS. iOS seems extremely battery efficient to me. My six year old iPhone still got me through an eight hour shift when I had to go into the office, before needing to be charged when I got home (original battery.)

My new one only needs to be charged every other day, with the screen on for a good portion of my waking day. Streamed four hours of 1080p video the other day, beamed to both my partner’s and my wireless headphones, and it took ages to lose 10%. I started the day at 60% and after four hours of steaming at max brightness (and browsing Lemmy for a couple hours) I was at like 30%.

Hahaha nahhh I have a spouse I’ve been with forever and we’re never having kids, so we can sleep as much as we want to. I don’t get 13 hours EVERY day, but occasionally we get fucked up on various substances and need a long day of hibernation afterwards. Last night we got about four hours (special occasion party time!) so tonight we’ll probably get 10+ hours of sleep.

My partner and I have a basic box spring and a Queen-sized free mattress (from a family member.)

We put a 4” thicc memory foam topper on it and I can easily get 13 hours straight of sleep. It’s horrifying.
