You will not find many people who willingly work with Windows servers, there is a reason for this. That being said, one point of self hosting is that you can do everything the way you want. So you do you.

If this is the case, my recommendation is to power the server off fully and unplug it before having a priest use holy water to exorcise whatever daemon is causing the problem

All my servers are Debian. All my personal machines are Fedora KDE.
