Everybody gangsta until the fireplace starts speaking and the Manor informs all present that it wasn’t even built until 89 years ago.

Bro. That dungeon master sucks. The Urban Fantasy journey to take that beautiful member of the 10k basically wrote itself, no imagination at all on their campaign or prep.
So the newbie made a mundane lawyer and got the government involved. They upset a balance with clerical minutiae, in a setting with magic creatures and you telling me this guy didn’t nail himself a patron that night/blood moon/solstice?
Where’s the demons? The genies? The imps? The goddamn Fae courts!?
SMH. I feel so bad for that person.
I am so looking forward to the rest of Bautista’s career. You can really tell he’s discovered a passion instead of just business pivoting.
I wish him nothing but the best health and graceful mental aging, because he’s well poised to nail those elderly person roles and I genuinely think he’s got the innate chops to be as good at 'em as say Stewart or McKellen, and just lacked classical theater learning. Arguably, wrestling is a form of theater though, and I think he’s learning and experimenting pretty good.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but that’s a lack of imagination on your part.
There’s plenty of reasons and situations and types of people for whom avoiding basic human contact at some point in the timeline of their lives, was both necessary and correct for them.
Not to mention the most glaringly obvious one; pain avoidance. The instinct to avoid the thing that causes us pain is as human as a light conversation ending in laughter, and both are equally valid things which may occur at the apocalypse itself.

5·2 months agoThe point being, you don’t know who’s going to be good at something based on past performance in unrelated roles.
What’s surprising to me isn’t that the random promotion system works over the performance in past unrelated roles system…
What’s surprising to me is that you practically never see the only other logical conclusion used in the business world much.
Aptitude testing.

What you’re looking for was added to core Android since Android 15.
Have you checked in your settings thoroughly?
With specific DND settings and the various notifications options, you can achieve several different levels of “being notified” all under your control.
If on older Android versions than 15, a mix of DND settings set to detect driving and/or a tasker or similar app group to set the notifications for specific apps to go into “snooze” would also achieve the same effects.
There’s also at least one open source project I saw on my brief search that had an app that basically mimics the notification cooldown system but I didn’t linger enough to determine project state.

11·2 months agoBirth and the associated death come from going vagina -> world.
Clearly, if you go: world -> vagina, but the vagina belongs to the conceptual font of birthing life, and you exit it through where said concept eats from, you link birth with eternal feasting.
Duh.

37·2 months agoI firmly believe that you can judge a civilization by whether their creation myths, folklore figures, and proto-deities are all on team phallus or team vulva.
Most of the “good” ones by classical to modern standards; team vulva.
I will neither elaborate nor go dig up references because that’s work and then a reader might be denied looking up ancient stone penises and vaginas for an afternoon, and that would be tragic.
This post is cursed.
Not because of the insane jank, of course. That’s on brand for self host and I love it.
It is cursed because it has awakened something in me, and I can feel every old laptop in my vicinity trembling in fear.
The duality of humankind >_>
I’m over here thinking that if you dust off the flour on the top and assuming the dense middle cooked through…
I’d take a bite, out of curiosity lol.

2·3 months agoThey, could do all of those things, in theory.
In the fantasy land where they’re as capable as their fascist tools, and the tools themselves are as good as they advertise.
There are already dozens to hundreds of people getting away with the destruction of Flock cameras. They literally ask for public tips to solve them.
Have you read the research on the actual impact of all this bullshit on crime rate solving?
The panopticon is not finished.
Until it is, large swaths of your comment might as well be fiction, because until it’s trivial to “justify as much resources to hunt them down as what Luigi did” for the average use, they literally can barely find their ass with them.

10·3 months agoI guess it’s the same thing that makes some people freeze up when they see any math problem, and just assume it isn’t something they can handle. 😃
It is absolutely this, in my opinion, and for the same reason as Maths. It pretty much applies to any and all specializations that intersect in our average lives.
A reasonable person might read a medical journal describing the exact set of symptoms they’re facing, but being reasonable, they rightfully acknowledge they lack the expertise required to utilize that information and apply it, so they seek a professional.
Another human being who they have been conditioned to believe has dedicated a special amount of effort (and often also characterized as possessing extraordinary traits that allowed/empowered said special effort to work for them in this arena) to the pursuit of mastery in a discipline that they themselves believe they do not have the inclination/ability/time to achieve.
I.e. They go to see a Doctor.
This is the pattern, and for something like medicine, it is both very true, very apt, and very neat and straightforward: Not everyone has the baseline capacity/capital/time/what-have-you to get through Medical school.
Now extrapolate that to “advanced mathematics”, and it remains largely true. It does take a very discrete set of parameters to produce a master Mathematician that not everyone has.
But the pattern starts to break down the more granular you get. Not all specializations are created equal, the world has changed, and many aspects of complicated disciplines have ever increasingly intertwined with our daily lives.
Mathematics still works for the next example, but it’s time to get back to coding and error messages.
Computer Programming can be a vast and deep discipline, and has a lot of the same baggage as Medicine.
Especially in the minds of those who were born and experienced significant portions of their lives before computing made up more of our lives, and those who were born after computing was commodified down to interfaces that do not require all that expertise.
That leaves us with people, who are stuck interacting in/with systems they conditioned to believe would be beyond them to understand, and they always need an expert.
The joke of course, is that we’re all humans within the same capacity bands, and there’s as much room between complete ignorance and adept usage, as there is between adept usage, and total mastery.
But most don’t dare take that step out of ignorance, they don’t think they can be Masters, so what’s the point of just being Adept, and that’s assuming they even know or believe adepthood is possible.
So instead of reading the error message and thinking back to their interactions with the system and trying to fashion some sort of working model…
They just ping the computer guy.

Don’t.
You remember how the waterpik floss attachment head had a little warning to never use past intensity setting ‘1’ taped around it that the other attachments didn’t?
Your face pores would have even less protection as the entries aren’t curved like where the teeth and gum line meet.
Hydraulic pressure injuries are not a fun way for physics and biology to interact, even when it’s just water.
