  • I and my fiancee play Pandemic with our friends on occasion. We’ve played the game a lot and know how to do things, and our friends have basically never played it.

I low key hate it that my fiancee doesn’t let our friends do what they want. Instead, she keeps playing for them: “Ok you should go there and cure that one block and use that card to fly there so you (points next person) can trade that card to him next turn”. Our friends just have a blank state and go “ooohhookaay” and do it and have zero idea why.

I try to tell her that just let them play its fine if it is dumb decision, its fine if we lose. But she keeps doing it anyway! I always try to “beat her to the punch” and ask our friends what they want to do and if they don’t know maybe give few possibilities and let them decide and hope that my fiancee doesn’t interrupt lol.

  • I used TiddlyWiki (self hosted) extensively for like three years but now as I changed jobs I want to get start using just a bunch of markdown files. Editing with VS code on desktop and Markor on mobile.

Unfortunately no syncing yet because I keep my work documents in my work account’s onedrive and can’t sync it with my phone. I think there are apps that do it but I’d have to go through IT to get permission etc so haven’t done that yet

Now all I need to find is a good method for searching throughmy markdown files. The search on vs code is alright but I’d like some thing that I can quickly pull up with global shortcut like ctrl alt s or something. Maybe I’ll just make a python program to do it for me or try to find something ready-made.

  • The biggest criticism for the idea of phones always listening and sending that data somewhere ia that they would also be listening to other corporations and their meetings. Even if multi-billion corporations can just waltz over the rights of normal people, other companies would be very interested in knowing this is happening.

Also I feel like they already know this stuff so they gain very fucking little in listening on us. You saw an interesting website two days ago and spent more time in it than normal. Then you meet uo with friends whom are known to have similar likes as you, why the hell would ad companies not show ads for the same page / item / event to those people. It doesn’t matter at all if you mention it or not. Companies already know what products and brands you like, if your friends search for something, obviously they get ads of products that are interesting in their circle of friends. The items / brands / whatever are being talked about because they’re interesting to the circle of people, which companies already know.

Very common. Advertisers already know everyone you come in contact with, or ar least those whom you spend time with. They will use that info to push ads to the group, or to the relevant people of that group.

It’s Christmas time, you browse moccasins store for 10min, obviously you’re interested in them. Why wouldn’t advertisers show that item to your gf? That’s like the perfect ad for her.
