It has been a year (less a day) since we last saw the Ranger in UA Playtest 6. There still could be a lot of change. My sense is that they are more or less happy with three of the subclasses (Fey Wanderer, Beastmaster, and Gloom...

As someone who got burnt out on D&D, all these updates just seem like rearranging deck chairs on the titanic.
“I want actual DM support, a commitment to better supplements, a working CR system, faster combat with more interesting choices, a clear creative direction…”
“How about balance tweaks to the player classes?”
Ugh. Pass. I’ll just try out Pathfinder 2e next time I’m in the mood for running this style of game.

I’ve been scratching this itch with the DC20 Beta, but I totally agree.
Not even balance tweaks, just more stacked on top of everything. Every class just gets more powerful and more choices.
As if high level PCs weren’t already problematicly overpowered‽
