I don’t think you can really control kids after 12-13. If they really want something or their friends are all doing something then they can figure it out at that age, whether it’s the internet or drugs or whatever

I’ve used Celsius for decades in America, I just look up the weather every day in Celsius and figured it out pretty quickly (although I have to use F for all my kitchen appliances for cooking at least my climate control systems in car/home all work with C)

IIRC it always had threaded comments but yes subreddits took years. Shamefully I was very much in the anti subreddit camp and argued fiercely for tags instead like Flickr (RIP)

I got my sync and I don’t mind the computer nerd vibe on lemmy; reddit for a long time was that, far before subreddits were a thing. TBH I’m actually enjoying reading about hexbears and lemmygrad and .ml, the whole maga vs libs thing was getting old and it’s fun to mix things up and see how truly different the radical left is from mainstream politics. Federation gives me true freedom to censor what I see or explore what I want.
