I’ve degoogled apart from:

• Google photos - I have shared storage with my family and I really can’t be doing with sorting out the mess when I cancel my 200GB subscription. I do however back all photos up to my server.
• Pixel phone - I try not use any Google apps/search but the phones are updated regularly and are reasonably good value for money. Other brands have the Google tracking with the OEM tracking on top.

Mobile apps can suck a fart. I hate installing apps when the browser works perfectly fine.

SMS is way less secure but it is convenient for the masses to get your grandma easily using 2FA without any apps or more complex setup. It also doesn’t require internet like an app would.

I personally use Fido2/uauth > TOTP > Email > SMS.

Open Google play, find a launcher, find a new search provider. Set new launcher as default, insert new search provider widget. Probably missed a few steps.

You can’t remove it on a pixel without changing launcher or root. It’s at the bottom. It’s not a widget

This basically brings up 2 buttons on the urlcheck sheet an I can pick either to proxy it.

Why did they abuse?

Android:

• Nexdns.io^[1] - Open source DNS provider with DNSSEC and over TLS. Then can also block ads at the DNS level. I don’t actually use the app, I apply it at the system level with the “private DNS” settings.
• Bitwarden^[2] - Open Source password manager with Yubikey auth and stores TOTP.
• Imagepipe^[3] - Quickly and easily strip exif data from image (open source too).
• Markor^[4] - Used to make local notes of things I don’t want shared over a cloud or google connection. Just a .md note.
• Wireguard^[5] - Have my own VPN setup for when i’m on public wifi, also allows me to access my server/applications remotely.
• URLCheck^[6] - This app is fantastic, intercepts links to remove tracking parameters, unshorten them or even scan them with a virustotal API. I also use it to redirect twitter to nitter or apply a paywall remover.

A good tip also, when you scan a link with virus total. Clicking it will show a text output of the scan, long pressing the result will launch the virus total results page for more detail.
