What about trust? Simplicity is a feature because it increases trust. Trust that the dice are fair. Dice that are unnecessarily complex reduces that trust.

I am in my 50s. When I was a kid, tv shows had a hard start time, and people who turned up late just accepted that they missed out. And talking over the show was considered rude. Now with streaming, people will turn up late, take forever getting settled and regularly interrupt, because “we can always pause and rewind”. With modern technology it now takes about two hours to watch a one hour show.

14·9 months agoLLMs consume vast amounts of energy and freash water and release lots of carbon. That is enough for me to not want to “play” with them.
Sounds like the funding model is the real problem that needs to be solved first

5·3 years agoI go Bushwalking/ overnight hikes as a hobby. Inventory management is very important when you carry everything you need to survive in your pack. When I started rp-ing it took me a while to adjust to the fact that the same people who are hyper-fixated in the “reality” of Spell effects could not be bothered to pack a tent. Though I admit that the DM did not care about tents either…

Someone should design a TTRPG around the intricate social interactions at the tavern, and the dungeon delve is handled with a single die roll.
