You can use pgp encryption with mailbox, there is an option for it in the settings.
When I was looking for European alternatives to google I came a cross an insightfull comment regarding E2EE mail providers. Basically the person made the point that unless whom ever you are emailing is also using,E2EE then you aren’t really gaining anything from having it on your end.
In my case I felt I needed a provider, with CALdav and he ability to use an email client like Thunderbird. So I landed on mailbox.org
