Because in real life I don’t like people looking over my shoulder at everything I do and digital snooping is the same (or worse).

So you’re completely ignoring the rise of fascism due to voting? The second world war happened because a bunch of nazis stormed the German parliament and took control of it by force? What do you think populism does?
Of course you can change the system from within. Le Pen, Höcke, Meloni, Wilders, Trump, and so on, they aren’t “part of the establishment”. They latched onto a populist narratives, got financial aid from the radicals in their countries, and gathered votes to get themselves into offices .
The left-wing parties in France united to pose a unified front against the national assembly (le RN) in France. And it worked. They got the relative majority to vote for them, but as soon as they won, they were beset by infighting. Such is the common reality of left wing parties - they are their own greatest enemy.
Either you chose to ignore it or you were unaware, but the latter is much less probable, so I’m going to say you chose to in order to fit your narrative of “voting doesn’t matter” and imagine that class warfare (or how Marx would put it “Klassenkampf”) is the only way out.
That’s defeatism. You especially should believe in the collective. We are not just innocent little playtoys of powers beyond our comprehension. If that were the case and we had no free will, then what’s the point of living? If you truly believe you control nothing in your life, then why still walk this earth?
A single ant cannot destroy a tree. It’s the work of countless ants that achieve that.
“I want”
does nothing for it
Decisions are made by those who show up.
84% of Americans want something they are unwilling to vote nor do anything for, but they sure as hell will complain about it.
I just looked it up and GrapheneOS only works on google hardware? So you had to give google some money first or did you get it to work on something else?
How long can they be used? Mine always wear out really quickly for some reason.
Had a look: it’s 20 years and maintained by one single dude. Do you think one dude could compete with google? He needs help, and a lot of it.
Because naiveté is technical. Sure buddy.
You’re seriously going to believe that an “aggregation service” isn’t going to be misused? No wonder there’s no privacy when people are this naive.
I wish I could be that naive.
Mozilla already started sending your data to advertisers by default in firefox 128. If Google’s money dries up, I can’t even begin to imagine what fucked up shit they’ll do.
That’s not the point. The point is Google is paying Mozilla to be the default. Google pays them 500M per year to be the default. If at some point Google legally isn’t allowed to do so, Mozilla can say bye bye to 500M/year.
That’s great an all, but it doesn’t change the market one bit. Nearly all “alternative” search engines are bing proxies already. When bing went down a month or so ago, many of those “alternatives” went down too. Even the ones that supposedly had their own indices. I know this because I was using an alternative that simply went down too.
Searxng just serves as a proxy in front of a proxy.
No, I mean the tech behind it, not the concept. The bittorrent application is able to find a file to download from a bunch of other people. Not only the file itself, but parts of it. It’s a distributed search.
I don’t know how. How do torrents work?
Isn’t searxng just a proxy for google and bing? Not sure how that “increases diversity” or “adds competition” or “improves search results”…
Phones were always banned in my classes. I don’t know why anybody expected smartphones to be allowed.
If even during an activity where concentration isn’t necessary they can distract, just ban them. The cinema is a good example they are bright, somebody always forgets to turn off the sound, and while you look up who that actor is or whatever, you miss part of the movie. In school, even if you decided to look something up related to what the teacher is saying, you’d lose track of what they were saying while looking it up.
