Selfhosted@lemmy.world•People who are staying on Plex, have you tried Jellyfin? What about it do you not prefer? (real question)English
10·19 days agoWhat’s the “that” that you’d have to do anyway with Plex? I had to do nothing of the sort. I asky friends and family to make a Plex account and ask what email address they used. Then I give that email access to my library

29·20 days agoCouldn’t upvote this harder. Tried Jellyfin for 5 mins and was super confused why I couldn’t find sharing options. After googling and reading about reverse proxies and buying domains and shit I said fuck it and uninstalled

1·1 month agoThis is exactly my strategy. My Lifetime Plex Pass paid for itself years ago. As soon as Jellyfin makes it easy to share my library with friends and family, I’ll move
Is it just another Chromium?
And it doesn’t even seem that hard? Like give an intern a summer project or something. I don’t know shit about app development but this seems a lot easier than 2FA app, an AI assistant, Sheets, Docs, a fucking video chat platform, or any of the other myriad products they’ve put out since this was requested on their UserVoice feedback site.

14·4 months agoYes but sometimes using AI like this is so much easier. I find it really useful in troubleshooting tech problems because you can tell it your specific setup and iterate on solutions until something works. So much easier than reading through 1,000 StackExchange threads which approximate your problem

Signal is not for people who categorically do not want numbers or mobile phones. They’ve never said that.
If that person registers with Signal then this guy loses his account and username. All new messages sent to his username will get sent to the new person’s phone but the new person won’t have any of the history.
