We probably have different guidelines. AI helps alot in this field.

Take web dev as an example. It can click through websites explorative. Test accessabillity. Do codereviews and prototype solutions.
This is the problem with unchecked capitalism. We had so many tech advances nobody should have to work more than 1hr per day anymore.
Now a person lives in suboptimal conditions and think why not work 2hrs to get a bigger flat. This person competes against all 1hr slackers and wins. Now another person comes along and grinds 3hrs and wins. The whole thing spirales up until living conditions are unbearable and you cant earn more.
Whats true: AI increases efficiency. Whats not true: efficiency gains will be handed through to the workers.
The advances we had since the 70’s are crazy. Yet we went from single income to double income while not having enough for a home, children. So history speaks a different language than bezos.

7·30 days agoThey should donate blood to lower the levels. Wouldnt the army need fresh supply anyway?
I know some guys, not that ugly even, just a little, who’d volunteer.

3·2 months agoReally depends, if youre sitting in a pool with a few beers or not. Living in a condo like a rat i basically skipped summers. Hate to share public places who litter and either themselves or their dog pees or poos in the place.
Get a garden and it’s fun again. I know it’s not possible for everyone but condo life is, for me, inhumane.

science@lemmy.world•Scientists Turn Plastic Waste Into Edible Cookies Because That’s the Future We DeserveEnglish
3·2 months agoIs the plastic entirely dissolved in the process? I feel like the cookie wouldnt be edible otherwise. If we can turn plastic into fat sugar whatever with yeast, that’d be THE news. So i guess something is missing here?
started comp science at 28ish. if you can tell a story around it its fine. but prepare to see ppl younger than u earn 2x ++ money, have a house, tesla and family while you struggle to pay repair fees for your 20yr old car.
I think the advice is true for things you can not realistically change. But finding out if you can’t change it or why something is bothering you is key here.
For me existential dread was a sign of my body to take the next step and start a family.
Imagine a room full of extroverts. This would essentially be a circus without audience.

science@lemmy.world•Brain scans reveal widespread structural and functional changes in patients following COVID-19 infectionEnglish
43·3 months agoAs the article says, they lack pre covid data. I’d then question how they determine “abnormal behaviour”?
I guess losing ability to smell is a sign of brain damage. And eventually things get rewired with redundant, less important or new connections if possible, resulting in different scan results.

2·4 months agoYou choose an unique identifier, password and you are good. Then you could add 2FA. Without email or other 2nd channel comms you risk losing access to your account though. Phone number is def not necessary but it helped whatsapp build its userbase, showing you who of your phonebook has it already.

science@lemmy.world•CRISPR tech selectively shreds cancer cells, including "undruggable" cancersEnglish
11·4 months agojust like with this teeth regrow headlines this will either take longer than we live to be available or disappear entirely. Wish we could volunteer more easily to new advanced medicine. A fellow who was late stage cancer was finally allowed to join such a programm but you are either given the real medicament or a fake one. Given how fast his health declined, i guess he was in the control group without effective medication. Just think about how many people avoid colon checks because docs still insist using their hands like its the year 1600. There are small robot pills which can do the same and these are cheap. but no one offers this procedure.
Its called having to get up at 5 am for work but also wanting to have fun til 1 am to make life actually worth living.
