Even without any particular care needs or neuro-differences, a lot of kids can sometimes be a danger to themselves when out in public. Our public spaces are not designed to mitigate this, and it tends to happen at a stage when their ability to understand and obey verbal instructions is low (or at least slow), and physically controlling them is extremely unergonomic for the adult (too heavy to constantly pick up, too short to constantly hold their hands).

I find “workers” is a pretty good all-purpose one.

It’s not just a bit of nonsense tho, trackies is tracksuit (trousers), and dacks has been another word for trousers/ pants since way before trackies were invented. Also works quite well in “shat yer dacks”
