Oh yeah. As another comment pointed out. Users can control this by using hidden notifications. Not a sigbal issue.

12·12 days agoNot defending this bullshit but O title is “Nevada police may be tracking your phone’s location without a warrant. Here’s how”
With relevant part
Although Fog Data says that their data is made anonymous and “linked to devices … not people,” the company says the tool can help access information that “would otherwise remain hidden.” The company has a tool on their website that allows individuals to opt out of their databases.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Is there some privacy concern on using Firefox Sync to sync history across devices? I mean can I trust it?English
4·14 days agoKeepass with syncthing seems to be fine for passwords.
I think email is a rabbitbhole so leave that for the pros.

33·14 days agoJust checked LibreWolf a hardened Firefox as I thought they disable it. Turns out its just off default and “There aren’t significant downsides as Firefox Sync encrypts your data locally before transmitting it to the server.”
I thought there might be another reason to have it off (giving Mozilla your email?) but seems OK.

19·17 days agoNot shitting on the idea but I bought a FairPhone5 that includes to what this suggests. Each main component (so not chipset) can be unscrewed and replaced easily, chsrgrt port, camera, speaker, removable battery.
As of next month every major telco that owns infrastructure in the contrary will have blocked the IMEI (the first part identifies the phone and model) and will be unusable. Even unusable with a data only sim.
It will only work on WiFi.
Guess im just venting but id love to see how this concept could help in the situation.
Molly is a hardened signal fork. Not sure how folks feel about it but I have no issues.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Password manager woes. How have you solved syncing on Android?English
1·2 months agoIts not really 2 factors if it’s stored in the same DB though.
I came from Bitwarden where the community recommendation was to not store passwords and 2FA together in the cloud. If a beach orccurs and you lose both then there wasn’t a point in having the 2FA.
Less of a risk with a local solution but still not sure.

1·2 months agoDo you store TOTP in a seperate KeePass?
For me swappog between two Keepass DBs is annoying. I can’t find anything that will sync my 2FAs.

Technology@lemmy.ml•Why nobody told me about this search engine ?English
18·2 months agoCan I Earn Rewards: Yes! You can earn PRE tokens for your searches. These tokens can be used to stake nodes, advertise on the platform, or traded on exchanges. The more you use Presearch, the more you earn.
I do not need to earn rewards from my intent searching.
Also. Seems like it’s ads. Just “decentralized” ads. Kinda like what Brave and Honey were doing - stopping ads and inserting there own.
OP I suggest there’s a reason noone mentions this shambles of a search engine.

Porn. Yes. Needs ID or VPN to access the sites these days.
Feels weird to access it via torrents.
