For normal humanoid spellcasters who have to prepare and channel the spell energy that is foreign to them through their bodies, being such a strong spell it always carries the risk of backfiring going beyond the predetermined rules of its preparation.

nothing to say that is the case for dragons who can cast the spells innately.

I always thought “racial alignment” was about the culture of those races conditioning those who grew up in those civilizations being raised with certain beliefs to serve as a guideline in how individuals of those races would be depicted in setting. (Or supernatural compulsions for things like Devils, Demons, Modrons, etc… but that’s different)

Then I realized most people that I played with just used it as an excuse to be openly racist.

It’s for the best that the system is being removed, people just don’t know how to use it without causing problems. This is why we can’t have nice things.

Well there is your problem. Players shouldn’t be asking for rolls, DMs tell players what rolls are needed so they can describe the scene playing out based on them.

Back in my day, we unlocked characters by meeting a specific list of obscure criteria, which are only possible at random times, during gameplay that are only ever hinted at through a cryptic set of clues hidden throughout the game.

AoO requires a reaction. So only one is going to eat it but, meh, that’s why I have 13 of em.

5e rules – you don’t end your turn when attacking and can move through allied squares. Iirc it counts as “difficult terrain” for movement distance or that could have just been a homebrew things

So step into square, attack, step out and end turn.
