And Nadella looks like the PTA meeting version of Lex Luthor.
Good advice already replied. Definitely have a business-only phone and a personal-only phone. I’d consider two different phone OS’s if you can. Keep crossover data as minimal as possible.
Would love to read a follow-up post from you 6-12 months down the line. Best of luck. It’s absurd how difficult this is in 2024.
Yeah, he was a hypocrit and I despised the guy. Woz was the real hero of Apple. But Jobs did say that stuff, and he was correct in that moment. We see it over and over.
As much as I disliked Steve Jobs, the man was 100% correct when he talked about companies rotting from the inside. They get taken over by sales & marketing types and the product designers and user experience experts get kicked to the curb.
Is there a Pirate Bay for books?
Completely agree. There are a surprising number of folks who should know better who will swear up and down how safe they are. If they like the convenience and the “cool factor” of using them…that’s fine, whatever, none of my business. Just don’t try to gaslight me that they are safe.
I guess the distinction might be: your fingerprints are physical attributes of your physical person. Your house & house key are objects / property owned by you.
The laws vary from state to state, and I am not a lawyer. But in general, I think it works like this. Things like your fingerprints, face, retina, etc, identify you. In many states, if the cops ask for your identification you are required to give it to them, and they are allowed to force the issue. Things like passwords, access to the interior of your home or vehicle, access to your business files, and things like that are not your identity and normally require a judge to sign a warrant (unless there are “extenuating circumstances”).
Personally, I think the forcing you to unlock your phone without a warrant is bullshit, especially since they have the upper hand anyway. And the phone isn’t going anywhere and neither are you. In most cases they have plenty of time to get a warrant.
Done!
Unfortunately the judge also ruled that it’s no different than forcing someone to give their fingerprints when you book them. If this sets a precedent, it could apply to anyone getting arrested, not just parolees / prior convicts.
I’m pretty aggressive about switching things off, too. I will never use OneDrive, for example.
Glad you found it useful! Love your username.
With MS you never know. They are pretty arrogant and aggressive about assuming you want things running in the background. Something you can try: Install ShutUp10 and look for things like Office Telemetry being turned on. You can switch these things off (permanently or temporarily, your choice) and see if that stops the traffic.

(There are other ways to do the same thing but I’ve been using ShutUp10 for years and love it)
I hope they figure out how to 3d print gum tissue. Harvesting donor tissue from the roof of your mouth certainly works, but is probably the worst part of the recovery.
Seems like it should be doable. But I doubt it’s high on the list compared to kidneys, livers, etc.
I worked on a creative writing thing with it and the more I added, the better its responses. And 4 is a noticeable improvement over 3.5.
Ha! That definitely happens sometimes, too.
Exactly. And for me, being in middle age, it’s a big help with recalling syntax. I generally know how to do stuff, but need a little refresher on the spelling, parameters, etc.
Invest in aluminum foil now.
