Hi guys, I’m actually facing a little trouble around here, im trying unlock the bootloader of my redmi note 7 pro. But the latest xiaomi unlock tool doesn’t recognize it, is there something to do with port. Im using windows for this, the laptop detects the mobile but the xiaomi application won’t. Any suggestion or have anyone faced similar issue with any other xiaomi device.

Is this your first time unlocking/flashing a device? If it is, I would recommend first looking into installing the android adb tools, sometimes you can find minimal installs, then turning your phone in boot mode and trying to comunicate with it. This is usually done with the terminal and after you send a specific command the phone should reply with its identifier (i dont remember the specifics). Once you can communicate with the device this means the drivers you need are installed properly and you should be able to see your phone in the xiaomi application (or unlock the bootloader directly from the terminal).

All of this assumes you got the unlock code from the xiaomi site (which ofently does not work) but there are some shady programs around to bypass this step.

Did you also installed the drivers? It took me some time to learn that your computer may see the phone in regular mode (accessing content) but not when you turn it on recovery mode / boot mode and this requires additional drivers.

I have a xiaomi pad and also want to unlock the bootloader.

It seems that Xiaomi allow a limited number of token to unlock the bootloader each days at 00:00 China time.

    Well… I tried 2 times, and I also tried scripts python to execute the requesy 4 times : 00:00:100 00:00:200 00:00:400 00:00:500

And that didn’t work. Son f*ck xiaomi. I’ll try again later when I got more time to kill.

Since im not familiar with python scripts i couldn’t dare, but only rely on official line. I see two other comments mentioned on drivers may be i should give a shot after fixing it.

As far as I know Xiaomi stopped letting unlock the bootloader even for older devices, so you’re out of luck I’m afraid.

I think they might not have stopped completely, but it seems they let very few devices to unlock like 10 per day. But if that’s the case, then they give no choice but to show a freshly roll out middle finger.

Well, they already made it very hard. Their account requires a phone number. You have to use their community app to appeal for an unlock request, and it only works at a certain time on a day. If it didn’t work at the first try, you have to wait for 10 days (this part could be different, 7 or 14 don’t exactly remember). Also. it never works at your first try anyway. They limited the unlock count per account, 3 per year, then they dropped it to 1 per year. Last time I heard it was impossible to unlock older devices because they shut down their server. So the very restricted version of unlocking appeal only works for HyperOS versions I think, so if you have MIUI it’s not possible anymore.

Sorry about this. It happened to me with a Huawei phone in the past. I wanted to unlock its bootloader but their server was shut down and it was not possible anymore. Since that day, the first thing I do with a phone is unlocking its bootloader even though there isn’t a ROM to install yet.
