Why would anyone use this over Proton Mail or the gazillion alternatives if it treats people like shit.

From reading other replies, ads are only for people using inbox tabs/groups, and then only in the promotions tab. I don’t use tabs, so I don’t get ads. If you don’t go into your promotions tab, for example, in your primary tab, you won’t get those ads either.
