  • It sounds like you have let your negative experiences taint your worldview.

It’s not uncommon. My wife was cheated on a bunch, so it’s very hard for her to accept that I have no interest in other women.

If you’ve experienced a bunch of rejection by men over your looks, it would also very hard to not assume that every man thinks this way.

Both are mostly just confirmation bias, though.

  • This definitely pays off if you tip well at a bar you’re a regular at.

At our local Mexican place they would spike our margaritas so much that occasionally they’d be almost undrinkable. I’m pretty sure they were tossing a shot of everclear in it.

But it was great, before our server even made it to our table, they’d bring us our drinks and queso dip.

  • Didn’t you know? Every landlord is a monster stealing from people who get absolutely no benefit from the arrangement. At least here on Lemmy, that is.

You can tell when people haven’t experienced home ownership before. It’s definitely a “grass is greener” thing, but owning a home is a major pain in the ass in many ways. I actually work with a few people who sold theirs and went back to renting because of it. I’d join them if we didn’t have more pets than the city allows.

The equity thing is always brought up, but any gains you make because of market fluctuations are only good for taking out loans, or making a profit when you go back to renting. The other houses on the market have increased in value along with it. Plus, any maintenance expenses are just keeping your house from losing value.
